350 g (2 ¾ cups) all-purpose flour
3 tbsp sugar
1 tbsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1 tbsp honey
350 ml (1 ½ cups) beer
Juice of 1 lemon
4 tbsp butter (or ghee)
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 190°C (375°F). Grease a medium-sized loaf pan with butter (approximately 26 x 12 cm / 10 x 4 ¾ inches) and line it with parchment paper.
Melt the butter and let it simmer until golden. If using ghee, just melt it.
Start by sieving the flour into a large bowl to remove any lumps.
Add the sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Mix until combined.
Add 2 tbsp of the browned butter, honey, beer, and lemon juice, and stir until well combined.
Pour the batter into the loaf pan. Drizzle the remaining 2 tbsp of melted butter over the top and score the batter deeply lengthwise with a knife to control how it expands during baking.
Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until golden and a skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
