- 120 g (4 oz) chocolate, finely chopped
- 2 tbsp cocoa powder
- 2 tbsp sugar
- A pinch of salt
- 500 ml (2 cups) milk
- 1 cinnamon stick
- ½ vanilla bean (or vanilla extract)
- Heavy cream
Instructions
- Whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form. Set aside.
- Split the vanilla bean and scrape out the seeds. Save the remaining pod for making vanilla sugar if desired.
- Warm the milk in a pot over medium heat. Add the cinnamon stick, sugar, vanilla seeds, and cocoa powder, then stir. Add a pinch of salt and bring to a gentle simmer.
- Remove the cinnamon stick and stir in the chopped chocolate until fully melted.
- Pour the hot chocolate into cups and top with whipped cream. Garnish with grated chocolate if desired. Serve immediately and enjoy!
